Wake County District Attorney Colon Willoughby has notified the Raleigh Police Department that he reviewed the SBI's report of the October 21, 2010, officer-involved shooting incident on Maitland Drive and concluded that matter does not warrant prosecution or further criminal investigation.
Following the district attorney's determination, the two RPD officers who discharged their weapons during the incident, D.C. Painter and P.D. Matthews, were notified by the department that they were returned to regular duty. In accordance with departmental policy, Painter and Matthews had been assigned to administrative duties after the incident.
