Accidental Death Incident

On February 21 at approximately 5:30 p.m., Raleigh Police Department officers responded to 805 Havenwood Ct. to investigate a call involving a juvenile who had been shot with a pellet gun inside the residence. The 8-year-old male was transported to WakeMed for treatment. Detectives from the RPD’s Homicide and Aggravated Assault units conducted a thorough investigation into the incident. No signs of foul play were present, and the shooting was determined to be accidental. As a result of the injuries he received, the juvenile died at the hospital on February 22. Based upon all the available facts and evidence, the investigating detectives consulted with the Wake County District Attorney’s Office, and a decision was made that no charges would be filed.
