Come and Celebrate National Night Out

Tonight, citizens, law enforcement agencies, community groups, businesses and local officials in more than 15,000 communities in all 50 states will join forces to mark the 28th annual National Night Out.

The celebration is designed to:
  • Heighten crime, drug and violence prevention awareness;
  • Generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs;
  • Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and
  • Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
The first National Night Out was orchestrated in 1984 by the National Association of Town Watch, and for 25 years, communities across the country have collaborated with local law enforcement agencies to hold neighborhood crime prevention events.
