At approximately 9 a.m. today, Raleigh Police Department officers responded to a stabbing call in the 200 block of E. Martin St. Upon arrival, a victim, Eric Lee Jackson, 52, was located and was transported to WakeMed, where he later died.
A suspect was detained at the scene and was transported to be interviewed by detectives. After further investigation, the suspect, Leonard Coleman (DOB 6/11/49) was charged with murder in connection with Jackson's death. He has been transported to the Wake County Jail.
The victim and the suspect were known to one another, and the crime was not a random act.
