RPD Arrests Suspect After Pursuit

On Saturday, shortly before 3:30 p.m., a Raleigh Police Department officer was investigating a suspicious male subject in a parked vehicle located in the 9400 block of Glenwood Avenue. The suspect attempted to strike the officer with his vehicle, then fled and refused to stop.

The suspect led officers on a circuitous route that included travel on Glenwood Avenue, Lumley Road, 1-50, Creedmoor Road, Strickland Road and Falls of Neuse Road before the pursuit ended shortly before 4 p.m in the 8500 block of Ray Road. At that point, the suspect struck another vehicle, ran off the road, hit a tree and fled on foot. He was apprehended almost immediately. No injuries resulted from the collision.

The suspect, Kasim Jerell Miller, 37, has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon on a government official, fleeing in a motor vehicle to elude arrest, hit and run, resisting delaying or obstucting a law enforcement officer, possession with intent to sell or deliver cocaine, possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. In addition, warrants for violation of a domestic protective order, assault on a female, false imprisonment and making harrassing phone calls were served on the suspect in connection with other incidents. He has been transported to the Wake County Jail.

In addition to involving members of the RPD, the pursuit was assisted by representatives of the NC State Highway Patrol and Wake County Sheriffs Department.
