A DWI checking station established from 9:30 p.m. Saturday until 1:30 a.m. Sunday in the 4000 block of Jones Sausage Road resulted in a number of arrests and citations including:
• 20 DWI charges;
• 3 charges of driving without a license;
• 3 charges of driving while license revoked;
• 2 charges for having open containers of alcoholic beverages;
• 2 charges for not having children properly restrained in vehicles;
• 1 charge for a registration violation; and,
• 1 charge for careless and reckless driving.
Despite the number of DWI charges, officers noticed that a significant number of the vehicles that passed through the checking station were driven by designated drivers.
